Searching for Information?

With school starting again soon, it?s interesting to note that the way that people search for information has greatly changed throughout the years.? In the past, much research was done through the use of books.? People would come into the library and use the card catalog or periodical index to find books or articles that touched on the subjects that they were looking for information on.? Today, much has changed.? People are turning to the Internet and doing web searches to find information.

It is true that much information can be found through a simple search on the Internet, however, a person needs to evaluate a website and ask themselves a few questions about it in order to ensure the accuracy of the information they?re finding.? Is the website author?s name on the page?? Do they list their experience or education?? When was the page last updated?? Are there links to other pages that have more information on the subject?? These are just a few of the questions that should be asked when searching the web for information.

????????????? At the library, we want to ensure that the public has easy access correct information.? That?s why you will find a variety of databases under the Reference Tools area of the library?s website.? We subscribe to databases that have state and country information, languages, careers, genealogy, and general information.? With your Adams County library card, you have the ability to unlock a variety of different databases that we?ve collected to ensure that you have the most up-to-date and correct information possible.
