At the moment with regards to the domestic home energy market the population is split into two categories those that have converted to green energy with the second being the people that have either still to change to it or are not convinced at all. It is the purpose of this brief article to show you that there has never been a more crucial time to re-think changing to renewable energy. One of the key areas to look at is the incentiveframework that is currently available to all domesticowners. Also the main incentive structure within thethe UK is the feed in tariff which allows you to take back money on the electric bills paid has been cutonce ( by 50 percent ) and is now set to be cut again. Now the other option to this is to continue to pay for your usual system which is set to increase year on year; and when you think the average house energy bill increased by 18 percent in 2011, as you cancontemplate the future doesn't look clear forlong standing energy.

Another area that should have your attention if your stillunsure by is the repercussions that the Britain population of long standing energy users will feel if the government their set targets on renewable energy. When compared against the European average (13 percent) we are far behind with only 3 percent in the United Kingdom coming from clean energy and when you know that our target is 15 percent by 2020 you can see we have a long way to go. So what this would mean if we miss our targets is two fold; first our energy costs will be at quite unbelievableprices (gas especially) and also the money that would have been earmarked through savings will be firstly going into more projects such as nuclear and secondly on bulk importing of the high priced fuels. A study carried out by the Renewable Energy Association states that the United Kingdom energy bills are set to rise an extra ?60 billion a year if Britain is not able to reach its renewable energy goals, there is also the obvious job losses that will result from an inability to meet our expectations within this new sector. There is currently only 110,000 people are employed in this industry. (which makes the estimated 400,000 employed by 2020 seem unrealistic)

Right at this moment every household within Britain pays a subsidy of less than ?2 per year to support clean energy subsidies with this expected to be closer to ?9 by 2020. What you should read into this is that the government is very committed to ensuring a clean energy future. But as with everything in life their is supply and demand hence why the feeding tariff has just been cut; this is because the government were overwhelmed by an uptake of 900 percent in 2011 for solar energy and the reason for this was the popularity of the feeding tariff. While currently you can still benefit from a decreased rate feeding tariff this is to be cut again, so the time to take action is now. The government is soon to initiate the "Green Deal" incentive this is where they will back your loan to have solar energy systems installed into domestic properties. This could indicate the end of feed in tariffs as they will still begiving support but without an incentive.

Ultimately the one thing to be sure of is that without a doubt energy costs are set to continue to rise and the other being that with the popular nature and increased uptake in solar energy that the grants will not. So ultimately the time to actof the incentives could be sooner rather than later.

MTV on demand launches in the UK, now everyone's got a 'banker' for those cold nights

Image

If you, or your kids, wish to view the dionysian exploits of Newcastle's finest at any hour of the day, then you're in luck. MTV has unveiled an online on-demand service in the UK that will allow you to binge-watch Geordie Shore and other shows of its ilk for a modest fee. £2 ($3.20) will buy you 24 hours access, while £3 ($4.80) will provide a full week of delightfully low-brow programming. Given the adult nature of MTV's oeuvre, only those 16-and-over will be eligible to access the service, but be warned -- it's charged via your monthly cellphone bill, so keep it a safe distance from the rugrats.

Buying an iPad 2? Here's the rarer, more efficient specimen you need to (somehow) track down

Buying a $399 iPad 2? Here's the rarer, more efficient specimen you need to (somehow) track down

Not all iPads are made equal, even if they're all packaged and branded identically. There's a major new mutation within the 2nd generation tablet and it brings significantly better battery life. Specifically, the fourth and latest production model of the iPad 2 (known as iPad2,4) has not only a lower price tag ($399) but also a new 32nm processor, which is significantly smaller and more efficient than those in previous iPad 2s (which had 45nm chips and an older transistor design). According to AnandTech, this results in an overall 16 percent increase in battery life during web browsing and as much as a 30 percent boost when playing games. Obviously that's worth having, but how can you tell if a boxed-up iPad 2 has the new processor before taking it to the checkout? Here's the downer: you can't. Until retailers' inventories naturally flood with the updated type, the only way to tell is by switching the slate on and running a utility like GeekBench -- and perhaps there'll be circumstances where you can give that a go on the shop floor. Alternatively, if third-party sellers discover that their stock is the iPad2,4, they could pull off a Darwinian win-win by marketing that fact to buyers.

Westlife, Jonas Brothers Vie For Battle Of The Boy Bands Championship

After nearly two weeks, some shocking eliminations and more than 10 million votes, MTV's Battle of the Boy Bands has gone from a field of 32 down to the final two. And the matchup will be a face-off between old and new. Irish boy band and international favorites Westlife will square off against the Jonas Brothers in the championship.

Voting in the final round begins now and will continue until Monday, May 7, at noon ET, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Keep in mind that during the championship match-up, the results will be kept secret until we crown a winner.

Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Battle of the Boy Bands interactive bracket!

It's been a long, hard-fought battle for both of these bands to make it to the championship. Westlife came into this competition as a true underdog. The guys, who had minor success in the United States with their 1999 single "Swear It Again," are calling it quits after 14 years once they complete their upcoming farewell tour.

Early in this battle, Westlife stunned voters when they took down fan favorites in the first round. Their fans didn't let up after that, easily making it past MTV's own O-Town, garnering 85 percent of the votes. In what we thought would be a tough match-up for Westlife in the Elite Eight, the group eliminated their own ultimate boy band, the Beatles, whom they marched past to get to the Final Four, where they beat out .

So after 14 years, will Westlife finally get the success that they have wanted in the U.S. with a Battle of the Boy Bands win?

Well, they still have one more opponent to take down, the Jonas Brothers. The JoBros, who haven't made an album together since 2009, have certainly made their presence known in this competition. They easily made it past Menudo in the first round, but barely got by the other brother band, Hanson, in round two. In the Elite Eight, the Jonas Brothers coasted by British boy band 5ive, but in the Final Four they barely edged out Mindless Behavior, who made a late comeback.

Clearly, both fanbases have proven that they are determined to get their favorite bands crowned victor, so don't stop voting now!

Voting in the Championship Round of MTV's Battle of the Boy Bands runs until noon ET on Monday, May 7. Winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite band made the cut, make sure you keep voting. Tune in to AMTV and MTV Hits for their boy-band video takeovers each day and make sure to spread the word on Twitter using the hashtag #BBB and like us on Facebook for updates! We will reveal our winner on Monday, May 7.
