2010 BMW 1-Series Unmasked

The 2010 BMW Series-1 offers smooth driving pleasure in a compact coupe or convertible car with dimensions that are more buoyant than its brother the 3-Series. Generally, it delivers 3-Series handling and rides comfortably but with the run flat tires, you may feel the occasional bump or two. The peppy 128i has an acceleration speed of 0-60mph in 6 seconds while the 300hp can launch the 135i from 0-60mph in 5 seconds flat.

This 2010 BMW 1-Series whether you choose a coupe or convertible, both these 2010's are available with 128i and135i trim levels. Although the 1-Series has a long hood and short deck like that of the 3-series, it is considerably smaller. The 104.7 inch wheelbase is four inches shorter than the 3-Series and the outline is smaller by half a foot. The width is 3 inches narrower and some people might think that the proportions are little off compared to that of the 3-Series.

The 128i comes with standard equipment including 17-inch wheels, automated headlights, a 10-speaker stereo system with a CD player, HD radio, an auxiliary audio jack, tilt and telescoping leather wrapped steering wheel, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, and leatherette premium vinyl upholstery. The convertible comes with a soft top that is power operated and an upgraded premium climate control unit. A more powerful engine comes with the 135i trim level that also adds18-inch alloy wheels, a nicely sport-tuned suspension, sunroof, xenon headlights, automatic climate control and all the 128i standard features.

The 2010 BMW 128i is a rear-wheel drive that is powered by a 3.0 liter inline-6 that can produce 230hp and 200 pound-feet of torque while the 135i feature a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with 300hp and 300 pound-feet of torque. All trim levels have a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed automatic with manual shift control.

There are option features available such as a sunroof for the 128i and a Sports package that include 17-inch wheels (that are different), and performance tires. The 135i could have sport suspension and sport seats. Other stand- alone features you could opt for include keyless ignition/entry, optional heated front seats, satellite radio with a premium audio system, optional rear parking assist, iPod interface, a hard-drive based navigation system with the iDrive controller, and active steering,. This four-seater has rear seats that are quite cramped although it handles quite well and steers like a charm; it does have a sport car feel to it that makes your driving experience positively enjoyable.
