The curtain will rise Saturday on not one but a dozen performances at the Get Out Performing Arts Expo ? and they?re all free.
A variety of acts will perform on stage at the event, which runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mesa Arts Center. In the lineup are Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, Copperstar Repertory Company, Desert Dance Theatre and Arizona Opera. Patti Hannon, the actress who stars as ?Sister? in the ?Late Nite Catechism? comedies at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, will close the show as the funny nun.
Matt Lehrman, executive director of ShowUp.com, will emcee the program. Lehrman appears Saturday mornings on KTVK-TV (Channel 3).
Meanwhile, more performing arts companies ? including ASU Gammage, Arizona Jewish Theatre Company and San Tan Community Performing Arts ? will host booths in the lobby. There, you can buy tickets to upcoming shows and inquire about opportunities to get involved.
The expo, now in its 12th year, draws about 1,500 spectators each fall.
It coincides in 2011 with Mesa Arts Center?s season kick-off festival. Dubbed Guitars & Handlebars, that free event will feature live entertainment and car, motorcycle and art shows on the MAC campus.
